Have you been needing the perfect excuse to kick off your shoes and relax with your favorite books?
Then you better call off all of your plane for the next week cause the Bout of Books Read-a-thon is here again!
What is Bout of Books anyway?
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 22nd and runs through Sunday, August 28th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 17 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team
Who can do it?
Anyone! So call all of your friends and get them in on the fun 🙂 You don’t have to be a reading wizard in order to participate.
Where will this take place?
Wherever you like! The fun part about reading is that you can literally do it anywhere, whether you are on a trip, at school, in the car, or on a plane.
Why should you do it?
Especially in the Western societies, people are constantly on the move with their busy schedules. Reading is a great way to help you relax in any setting. And all it requires is you and some sort of reading material. Plus, you get to go to all of these worlds without leaving your bed.
Read-a-thons in general are such a great way to give yourself a set block of time to try and consciously relax into a book. Bout of Books is the perfect excuse to just read. You will be surprised how much reading you can accomplish in a week.
One of the great things with Bout of Books is that there is no competition, no stress, and NO punishments for missing out on your goal. You can set however high or low you would like to accomplish throughout the week. This is a week to celebrate reading, so if you only want to finish the next page, go for it. If you want to tackle your GIANT tbr pile, GO FOR IT! We will all cheer you on no matter how far you get.
My goal for the upcoming week is at least two books. With today being the first day of Nursing School, I know I won’t be able to read a ton, but I do hope to read a little every night. *Fingers crossed*
So if you would like to join along, feel free to do so in the comfort of your own room/café/patio. Let me know below what you’re currently reading.
Stay tuned tomorrow (Tuesday) for my update on how I did for Day 1 (Monday)!
