Steampunk May ’16 Owlcrate

The OwlPost has arrived!I was pretty excited for this month’s box: Steampunk!

For those who may not be in the loop, Owlcrate is a monthly subscription box featuring one Young Adult book surrounding a particular theme. Also included is between 3-5 bookish goodies that also surround the theme of the month.

So let’s dig in:

After breaking the tape, the first item of the box is an art print featuring J.M. Barrie from the Creative Daffodil Studios.

The next item is the perfect item for a steampunk box.  It is a giant key brooch covered in gears! You can find this item from the company Elope.

Underneath some more frilly paper is a small package from the Crystal Compass Designs. Inside is a pretty skeleton key pendant necklace! This would spice up any outfit for your trip to the bookstore or coffee shop.

Then I flip over the fourth bookish item: nail wraps with cute glittery steampunk designs. I’m excited to wear these for vacation in a few weeks! These are from Espionage Cosmetics.

The final item before the grand finale is contained in a small box with Sparks Emporium stamped on it. Opening it up, I find a unique ring with an Inferno Devices series symbol inside!

…and now for the book…

*drumroll please*

Everland by Wendy Spinale!

Forget the story of Peter Pan you know. Because in Everland, the only way to grow up is to survive.

London has been destroyed in a blitz of bombs and disease. The only ones who have survived are children, among them Gwen Darling and her siblings, Joanna and Mikey. They spend their nights scavenging and their days avoiding the ruthless Marauders — the German Army led by Captain Hanz Otto Oswald Kretschmer.

Unsure if the virus has spread past England’s borders but desperate to leave, Captain Hook hunts for a cure, which he thinks can be found in one of the survivors. He and his Marauders stalk the streets snatching children for experimentation. None ever return. Until the day they grab Joanna. As Gwen sets out to save her, she meets a mysterious boy named Pete. Pete offers the assistance of his gang of Lost Boys and the fierce sharpshooter Bella, who have all been living in a city hidden underground. But in a place where help has a steep price and every promise is bound by blood, it will cost Gwen. And are she, Pete, the Lost Boys, and Bella enough to outsmart Captain Hook? ”

Like all of the Owlcrate boxes, each of the books come along with exclusive content! This time we have a letter from the author and a tattoo set surrounding the book!

This was such a cute box! And a new aspect that I think they have begun to place in the box is a card with the theme of the next month along with a sneak peek into a few of the items that will be in the box for that month! I really like this touch!

So for the June box, we will have a Royalty theme and an item from one of my favorite shops, CraftedVan.

Stay tuned for more bookish goodies coming your way! I hope you enjoyed and..

Happy Reading,
