Official Blurb :

“Be careful. Your next step may be your last.”
Fifth grader Tamaya Dhilwaddi and seventh grader Marshall Walsh have been walking to and from Woodbridge Academy together since elementary school. But their routine is disrupted when bully Chad Wilson challenges Marshall to a fight. To avoid the conflict, Marshall takes a shortcut home through the off-limits woods. Tamaya reluctantly follows. They soon get lost, and they find trouble. Bigger trouble than anyone could ever have imagined.
In the days and weeks that follow, the authorities and the U.S. Senate become involved, and what they uncover might affect the future of the world.

I really enjoyed this book.  I would suggest that if you are experiencing some sort of reading slump, this is the cure!  I haven’t read very many middle grade novels since I was that age, but this book really hit the spot.  The quality of writing made the book very enjoyable and quick to read.  Tamaya, one of the main characters, was just so fun and innocent versus the two boys who were always challenging her mentally and physically.

I also loved how Louis added a bully element to the story which is great for a children’s book.  Not only do I think kids will enjoy this book but also adults.  The plot is interesting with the mysterious fuzzy mud epidemic and the different point of views that go along with it.  We see into the minds of Tamaya and Marshall along with secret interviews that help to give more of a background story which helps to tie everything in.

Overall, this is a 5 out of 5 star book for me.  I could definitely see myself picking this up again in the future.  Even though this book is fairly short, the development of the plot and characters are very interesting to see how it all turns out.  Definitely a book I would recommend for everyone.
