World After by Susan Ee is the sequel to Angelfall. This series is about a girl named Penryn who is stuck in a post-apocalyptic world. She has to take care of her schizophrenic mother and her wheelchair-bound sister. As they are trying to run to safety during the night, when there are dangerous cults and street gangs hanging in the shadows, they are suddenly witnessing an angel fight. When Penryn tries to help the one mutilated angel, her sister is taken by the dark angels as revenge. Now she has to find a way to save her sister while trying to also find her mother who ran into hiding. But how??
If you want to know more about the story click HERE to go to the review of Angelfall which is the first book in the series 🙂 I gave the first book 4/5 stars, so it is an awesome series so far.
In World After, we follow Penryn as she loses her sister yet again. This first half of the book focuses mostly on the Resistance aspect of the world. If you have read Angelfall, you will notice that the first page of this book immediately starts off where the last left off. I really liked how Susan Ee did that. It also made the book feel like they could have been condensed into one book by itself, but I know that if it was two books, it might have made the story feel long. Also in World After, we get to know more about mysterious Raffe’s past. Penryn finds this information in an out-of-nowhere way which is pretty crazy. We also get to see more into the creation of the scorpion things. Yes.. more of the creepy scorpions. About two-thirds of the way through, we also get one of those moments where you are just like… “Well that escalated quickly”… The world just goes crazy. You will know which part I am talking about when you read it. The ending will make you want to grab the next book End of Days. It just drops… You think there is maybe a chapter or two that will wrap up like most books, but nope. You just have to wait another week and a half. Hurry up May 12th!! I give World After 4 out of 5 stars. If you have not read Angelfall, go get the book now!
